Container Certification Procedure
REVIEW : drawings and design specifications of the containers to verify compliance to ABS Rules, to the International Convention for Safe Containers (CSC) and to the codes, regulations and standards specified by the owner to the manufacturer based upon their intended service (general or restricted).
WITNESS : the structural testing of the prototype container, which is representative of the production series. Each test represents a method of actual operational handling or storage, such as stowing below deck, top lifting by spreader or bottom lifting by slings, racking on deck and longitudinal restraint on chassis in railcars. An industry established safety factor is built into each test.
SURVEY : the production of containers and monitor the manufacturer's quality control procedures. The inspection of production to ensure structural integrity focuses on the use of the issued and approved materials and on the adequate assembly, usually by welding.
ISSUE : an ABS certificate attesting to the containers' compliance with the specified codes, regulations or standards, and their structural fitness for a particular service or use. Containers for certain services, such as refrigerated containers transporting perishable cargo, or tank containers transporting hazardous materials, may receive additional certificates or approvals.
ABS offers certification to all major container regulations, codes and standards:
ABS: ABS Rules for Certification of Cargo Containers
CSC: International Convention for Safe Containers
ISO: International Organization for Standardization
TIR: Customs Convention on the International Transport of Goods Under Cover of TIR carnets
UIC: International Union of Railroads
AAR: Association of American Railroads
USDOT: US Department of Transportation
IMO: International Maritime Organization - Dangerous Goods Code
RID: International Regulations Concerning the Carriage of Dangerous Goods by Rail
ADR: European Agreement concerning the International Carriage of Dangerous
Goods by Road
ATP: Agreement on the International Carriage of Perishable Foodstuffs and on the Equipment to be Used for such Carriage
ATO-DLO: Agrotechnological Research Institute
USDA: Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service of the US Department of Agriculture

Eks Cargo Batubara
* Fe ( Ferrum )
* Mn ( Mangaan )
* Hg ( Hidrargirum ) : penyebeb penyakit kulit
* Pb ( Plumbum / Timbal ) : penyebab penyakit kulit
* SO4 ( Sulfur Oxida ) : penyebab korosi ( contoh kasus untuk container )
* Ph antara 4 - 5
Menyebabkan kesuburan tanah berkurang
* Ph kurang dari 5,6 ( Fe + O2 --> Fe2O3 )
Menyebabkan korosi terhadap logam
* Ph lebih dari 5,6 ( CaCO3 + H2SO4 --> CaSO4 + H2O + CO2 )
Menyebabkan kerusakan bangunan
* Interior
* Exterior
